PAWS will hold two information sessions for area residents about Trap Neuter Return (TNR) for free-roaming felines in March 2011.

The first session will be held on Wednesday, March 16 from 7 - 9 pm in Room B of the Lower Paxton Township Municipal Center at 425 Prince Street, Harrisburg. Attendees should enter through the main entrance near the upper level parking lot.

Palmyra Borough will host the second presentation on Tuesday, March 29 from 7 - 9 pm in the Recreation Room on the upper level of the borough building at 325 South Railroad Street, Palmyra.

Each session will include an overview of the only meaningful and humane approach to managing populations of free-roaming felines, including neighborhood cats, barn cats, stray cats, and feral cats. In addition, mentors will be available to help form active local teams that can initiate municipal strategies for TNR using proven tools for education, trapping, spaying and neutering, and other tactics.

The PAWS TNR Program, active since March 2004, has facilitated the spaying and neutering of more than 12,000 cats, preventing the introduction of tens of thousands of kittens into the environment during that period. The organization further collaborates with the Humane League of Lancaster County and the Humane Society of the Harrisburg Area in implementing TNR as the preferred method for managing populations of free-roaming cats.
