-On April 28th, the Paxtang Borough Council held a Town Hall meeting to discuss the future of our great Borough. On behalf of the Borough Council and myself, we thank each and every resident who gave up their evening to discuss the future of Paxtang Borough. +Welcome to the Mayor's Page.
+I am privileged to hold the position of Mayor of Paxtang Borough, as it is a wonderful place to live. We are blessed with the riches of history and old time traditions, multiple generations of families, and a diverse community of people.
-Currently, the Borough Council has been able to hold the line on taxes. However, the Borough is now faced with rising costs and the Town Hall meeting was an effort to hear the thoughts and opinions of the residents of Paxtang for the future tough budget decisions.
-The attendance at the meeting was fantastic, as many residents came to discuss the future budget constraints and to offer their opinions regarding how to proceed. In this economy everyone is faced with financial challenges and as we look forward, the Council and I wanted to make sure we are taking everyone's opinions, thoughts, and ideas for the greater good of our municipality.+We may be small, but we are strong. Paxtang Pride is evident in our Paxtang Elementary School where most children can walk to school. One of the oldest Presbyterian Churches in the country is also located in Paxtang. We have our own Police Force and Volunteer Fire Company in addition to many fabulous organizations such as the Lenker Manor - Paxtang Women’s Group, the Wilhelm - Paxtang Athletic Association, Paxtang Lions Club, Paxtang Historical Society, Paxtang Art Association and more.
+If you like spending time outside, you will enjoy our two great parks or a walk on part of the Capital Area Greenbelt walking/biking path.
-Again, the meeting was intended to get a broader range of opinions and pause to make sure that the Council and myself are making decisions on a regular basis that truly do reflect the wishes of the greater community. The sense that we received from those residents in attendance was that a majority of residents are satisfied with the fiscal decisions of the Council and services that are currently provided.
+We are pet friendly in Paxtang. You will see as many tails as people most days if you pass through the Borough. We are currently working on the development of a network that activates at times of lost, found or “needs a new home” pets.
-In closing, I am pleased to say that now, and in the near future, we will stay the course and preserve our Paxtang Borough. +And the food options are fabulous - Greek, Italian, American, Egyptian, Chinese and Thai. The restaurants, many of which will welcome you as if you were family, will prove to have reasonable prices and delicious food!
-Thank you again for your time and comments, they were all greatly appreciated. +Please visit Paxtang or take a look at the homes available. I’m sure you’ll love it as much as I do!
